Transitioning to Professional Congress Management
After several years of managing the European edition in-house, increasing operational complexity and financial pressures led the association to seek an experienced Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) capable of providing both strategic and operational support.
Kuoni Tumlare Congress was appointed in 2019, bringing extensive expertise in congress management, stakeholder coordination and operational delivery. Since then, our team has worked closely with the association to enhance efficiency, strengthen financial performance and elevate the overall delegate experience.
From Operational Support to Strategic Partnership
Since the start of the collaboration, we have provided comprehensive congress management services across Europe, including financial oversight, registration management, sponsorship coordination, programme support, on-site logistics and stakeholder communication.
However, the partnership extended beyond operational delivery. DrupalCon Europe is built on a strong community ethos, captured in the phrase, “Come for the code, stay for the community.” Preserving this culture while improving operational efficiency and financial performance was a key priority.
Our role evolved into that of a long-term strategic partner, working closely with the Drupal Association to ensure the event remained financially resilient, professionally delivered and aligned with the values of the global open-source community.
Measurable Outcomes Across Formats
Since 2019, the collaboration has delivered four successful in-person European conferences, alongside two fully virtual editions that ensured continuity during challenging global conditions. This adaptability allowed the event to maintain momentum while supporting the needs of its international community.
Throughout this period, the partnership has contributed to stabilised financial performance, improved operational efficiency and sustained participant engagement across both in-person and virtual formats. By maintaining consistent professional standards and adapting delivery models when required, the congress has continued to grow in strength and relevance.
This flexible approach has ensured that DrupalCon Europe remains a resilient and professionally delivered event, capable of evolving alongside the needs of its community while preserving its core identity and long-term sustainability.
